NaNoWriMo Journal

Journal Entry: Sun Nov 8, 2009, 3:56 PM
I figure the best way to make sure I complete this is to blog about my success...or lack thereof. I'll update about the day the day after the day has passed. Um, if that makes any sense! xD Alrighty, here we go. Wish me luck, everyone!

Day One

Just barely managed to get 1 800 words in, though since I finished at 1am the next day, does that really count? Either way, I hate what I wrote - beginnings are hard. Trying to find a good soundtrack. Any suggestions? Preferably something with more music than lyrics; instrumentals and soundtracks are great.

Day Two

Forgot to update this yesterday. >.> Wrote enough today, and finally got into the swing of things. I don't hate what I write as much anymore, and I've got a decent working soundtrack.
I've got to stop staying up until midnight, though.

Day Three
Almost managed to write two days worth today! Had fun doing a group writing session with =Scyoni and ~DrowDagger. I'll probably go to bed on time tonight. 8D
I need to stop looking back at what I wrote, though. >.<

Day Four
I failed today. Literally. I only wrote 500 words and I feel really bad. Going to try and catch up, though. No, wait, I was ahead... Nevermind.

Day Five
Too tired to go past 1 800 words today. OTL But I'm finally getting into the action and good parts of my novel...I think. I have no plan, just facts about the world I'm writing about. There's only a few things I really want to do.
Unfortunately, I'm starting to get really stressed and overloaded with all this stuff I have to do this month. :ohnoes:

Day Six and Seven
Spent some time with my mom on Friday and went to bed early because I had to wake up early on Saturday to go to play practice, and then I worked until 9 right after and work just kills my creativity.
In short, I didn't write anything on both these days. :ohnoes: But at least I'm not stressed anymore!

October Update

Journal Entry: Wed Oct 28, 2009, 4:32 PM
Haven't updated much lately... For those of you who don't know, I'm participating in NaNoWriMo this year, with my novel "Moderately Well Lit." I haven't exactly drawn much about it...but I'm really pumped for November! I can totally do this!

Also, in slightly less optimistic news, I've got to work Halloween night. OTL That means this'll be my first year that I don't go trick-or-treating. Which sucks, because I have a really awesome costume to show off (again) this year. >: Ah, poop, this sort of thing happens when you get a job, even part-time. I'll be hanging out with =Scyoni at the very least, though, afterwards. That should be fun. :)

I'll try and get some pictures to upload.

Stole this meme from :iconwachey: because, well, no reason, really.

What if you were the final boss of a video game?

A) Where does the battle take place?
A power plant. It’d have explosive tanks, an electric fence, and just a tonne of environmental things to play with. And there’d be a storm, too.

B) What is the final level's theme song?
It’d be quick, almost like a chase scene. Heck, it’d probably be a chase-level. xD

C) What is your pre-battle speech?
“A fight? During the middle of a storm? Are you serious? *pause* Well, fine then. You’ve done enough damage already. Right here, right now, I’m going to tear you apart!” (I’d totally be a good-guy boss in a bad-guy version of a game. >.> )

D) What is the battle theme?
Definitely a song with a lot of bass and with a little bit of classical elegance to it. Something that doesn’t really sound like fight music at first, but then you realize, “Oh, hey, yeah. I can totally see some cool action here.”

E) What special powers would you use to fight your enemies?
Electric manipulation or something similar is a must. Power plant, storm; whoever’s fighting me is going to seem royally screwed. I’d also have a cool weapon, like these gauntlets or special arm protectors that would give me enhanced strength and could shoot electricity and/or make these electric whip things... Yes! Totally my idea, no stealing! -grr face-

F)When you are defeated, any dying words?
“Ugh… Damn it. *stagger back* N-No, I can’t…I can’t let you go on. No matter what it takes! *ultimate attack of doom/self-destruct*” (What? It’s a power plant, I’m a stubborn person. There are a lot of cut scenes for this fight...)

G) Anything else we should know about this final battle? Secrets? Tips?
See those tanks over there? The electric fence? The live wires? Use them to your advantage, but watch out! Because I’d be an environmental hazard.

A Gentleman

Journal Entry: Mon Oct 5, 2009, 4:03 PM
I have recently discovered an amazing thing. It was called "Professor Layton and the Curious Village." Originally, my mom had bought the puzzle game when she bought a DS. I saw her play through some puzzles and I wanted to give it a shot, unaware of the addiction I would soon develop.

I raced through the Curious village, taking 4 days (or 13 hours) to beat it. It was so freaking awesome! Then I found out there were sequels, and that the second one was already in North America. "Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box" is definitely my favourite out of the two (and I hate love stories), but I love it all. The puzzles, the characters, the story line. I can't wait until they release the third one over here!

Anywho, expect some art later. I'm already doing a meme (in the Professor Layton style, but I might stop that. It's hard. ;A; )

Cannot Sleep

Journal Entry: Mon Sep 7, 2009, 8:22 PM
I'm trying to sleep. I can't sleep. I should sleep but I'm tired. I've been looking for a theme song for Den (or, at the very least, a song he could/would sing) but I'm not good at that. OTL So, instead, I'm stealing a quiz that =Kuriru did to pass the time. Read if you want - it might be entertaining.

Write out the names of your characters and explain:
1.) How you thought of their name.
2.) What made you create the character in the first place.
3.) How the character has changed over time (If they have changed).
4.) Any random fun fact about that character.

I'm just going to whip out characters as I think of them. Beware, I have a lot.

Crescent Sun

Rhyanna Oaklen
Got her name from a Dungeon & Dragons guide book, she's actually my first OC, ever, and was created during an attempt to play Dungeon & Dragons. (We never got past character creation.) She's gone from a horribly-written druid-like Mary Sue-ish creature to the relunctant tag-along on a mage's quest to save the world. Also the main character and I don't give her nearly enough attention.

Kaylan Nazald
Speaking of that mage, we see Kaylan Nazald. Her name was also taken out of the Dungeon & Dragons book, but this was after I started writing Crescent Sun (their story, which has been restarted a bazillion times) and I needed a name for the character. ~nobodieslove actually came up with the idea for her, I just expanded it. She's hasn't really changed much since then. >:

Boetyrious and Tumreoldier Xoertifer
Freakin' mouth full, isn't it? Anyways, their names (Boe and Tum) are based off of 'bottom,' and I just stuck the last name on there. They're twin brothers in Crescent Sun and, though they were originally supposed to be gnomes (as I said, I've restarted the book a bazillion times) I'm not so sure anymore. Boe is the older twin and terrified of mice while Tum is the younger one can play the flute. (And they're colours are orange and blue respectively. >.> )

Transformers

Riot
Was originally going to be 'Livewire' but I saw a few other OCs with that name and wanted to be original. She was created for two reasons. One, as an extra RP character while I worked out Fizz's and Surgehound's basic backgrounds. Two, because she's based off a character from one of my books that I wanted to work on, but couldn't write the book.

Smudge
I was inspired by the smudge tool in Photoshop, to be honest, for his name. He was really just supposed to be a background character of no importance to kill off. ;A; Didn't work out so well. He's the only member of Group 6 who isn't based off someone else, but who has someone based off of him.

Fizz
Because pop makes a fizzing sound when you open it, and she transforms into a pop machine at first. OTL She was actually created as a role play character as well, obviously for a specific 'verse (because I knew nothing of the others.) She was supposed to be kind and caring, an Autobot and overprotective. Look how well that turned out, eh? xD But it was her super-long introduction that inspired the rest of my fanfic, though I'm always worried that she borders dangerously close along the lines of "OMG she's a Mary Sue how annoying." Not even a good one, either. /:

Surgehound
His name was originally 'Headstrong,' however there was another - canon - character with that name. ~shaymayca1 was the one who came up with the name. He is exactly the same as when I created him. Exactly. Freakin'. The same. And I love him. Very much.

Moderately Well Lit

Klaire Mays
Moderately Well Lit is based off of a character I used to RP with on Neopets, Klaire. There was no special reason behind her name, I just liked it. She was originally bubbly, friendly and could control plants. Now she's sarcastic, pessimistic and can mimic other abilities; a total 180 there. She is also - at the moment - the youngest character in the novel.

James "Sir" Herriot
I think I based his name off of an author of a book I saw in grandmother's house... Except the 'Sir' part, that is. He was originally created as the leader of a military organization in the future, very military, very epic, who constantly thwarted the bad guys' plans. Then I realized it was a lot like G.I. Joe and trashed the story, but kept some of the characters. Now Sir is the leader of the main protagonist group in MWL.

Trevor Constantine
He's from the same story as Sir, really, and was (and still is) the main antagonist. Though his name changed (I originally used Constantine for another character, who died with the story), he's still the same megalomaniac villain that I love. He prefers dogs over cats, so don't expect to see him stroking a white puffball on his lap.

Cole Demidov
See Smudge. I'm a lot meaner to this guy, though, and I haven't killed him yet.

iAnti

Zabyx LR
All the letters on the buttons of a Gamecube controller (and probably other ones.) She was my first character on iAnti. Not much to say on her because I never really thought her character out well. She was from Spa'ring and used a rapier that could shoot beams. It was a cool sword.

Den
I just randomly decided to use that word for his name, there is no rhyme nor reason behind it. After I got bored with Zabyx, I wanted to try something different; I barely RPed with guy characters, so I gave it a shot. I like to abuse him, but I don't torture him. Except with evil, OoC conversations and fantasy stuff. >:3

Erial
I had that name stuck in my head for a while, but couldn't think of a character to put with it. Then, I decided that, in ERA 19, I wanted to make an android-dud character, so I stuck her with the name. She was originally going to be a huge tech-geek, but instead I made her RL a young actress who never played an RPG in her life. She can only cast lightning-based spells. (I like electricity.)

Okay, I'm actually getting kind of tired now. Going to give this sleep thing another shot. Goodnight.
